Amarante Consulting had the honor of supporting the FAO ‘s hashtagFISH4ACP program in Côte d’Ivoire, by strengthening financial inclusion in the tilapia 🐟 🌊 sector
🗓️ Since February 2025, Amarante Consulting has supported FAO’s FISH4ACP programme in these activities to support aquaculture stakeholders for the sustainable development of the sector in Côte d’Ivoire.
Our mission has been to provide financial education services to tilapia value actors to improve their financial inclusion. Several activities have been deployed; thus the Amarante team has:
✅ conducts a diagnosis of financing needs and the use of digital financial services by actors in the aquaculture sector. To do this, our consultants met with the actors on their farms in order to better understand their activities and the organization of the sector;
✅ Trained members of three financial institutions (Baobab Group, Advans Côte d’Ivoire and COOPEC) on the specificities of the sector in order to enable them to adapt their financing products to the needs of actors in the aquaculture sector;
✅ Supported some forty cooperative members and fishmongers in accessing financing by providing them, in particular, with a
financial education and training them in the preparation of financing applications. The aim is for the trained actors to be prescribers for their colleagues.
➡️ The flagship activity of this project was the holding of the FFA – Forum de la finance Aquacole on September 2 and 3 in Abidjan. This event, organized under the aegis of the Ministry of Animal and Fisheries Resources, brought together 300 participants, actors in the aquaculture sector, aquaculture interprofession, financial institutions, state agencies, aquaculture enthusiasts, etc. 🤝
The exchanges were rich and made it possible to identify the problems of the sector, more particularly those of access to financing, but also to identify existing solutions and initiatives being implemented to contribute to the development of the sector.
🙌 🤝 Amarante Consulting is honored to participate in the highlighting and support of this still underdeveloped sector but which represents for Côte d’Ivoire an important lever for food security and certainly a sector of the future.
