Amarante wins an award from FAO for the best innovation in agricultural financing in Africa at the SAM (African Microfinance Week) organized by ADA.
The SAM is the largest microfinance event in Africa, and this year welcomed over 1,000 participants. The Amarante team took part alongside Lohft to support a dozen start-ups taking part in the Catapult program, and also with our partner OPEN SI to showcase the Agrikalpay solution at the SAM Innovators’ Village. The objectives were to carry out BD actions, but also to promote Agrikalpay in order to find opportunities for scaling up the solution.
Agrikalpay is the result of an 18 months long project financed by Enabel that saw our team, together with our local partner in Benin OpenSI, develop and launch in the market an electronic wallet for pineapple producers to faciliate financial transactions, using blockchain technology, between the farmers and their suppliers or distributors.
Kudos to Antonia Bassène and Joel Ndjodo who worked long hours on this project and the Amarante team present at the SAM! Naffi Touré and Chris Czerwonka. We can be proud of our work.
